Protive is a US-based software studio with offices in Bangkok, Thailand, doing business with clients across the globe. We build applications that people enjoy using, and we run projects that people enjoy being part of. Every engagement is staffed from a small network of senior engineers and designers we've worked with for years.
We've directed ESL programs, coached PhD candidates through dissertations, and led distributed engineering teams. The common thread is translation: taking complex ideas and making them land with different audiences—stakeholders, users, and engineers alike.
Protive has been remote from day one. We've shipped from Australia, Japan, Peru, Ecuador, France, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and many more places. We know how to keep a distributed project productive: tight communication loops, clear documentation, and honest status reports.

about our founder
Our founder's path to software wasn't traditional. At 15 he was drafting blueprints at a civil engineering firm, then moved into structural engineering—where precision and detail-oriented thinking became habits that still shape how we build software today.
That was followed by a linguistics degree and years of studying languages—Spanish, Thai, Japanese. It turns out there's a lot of overlap between natural languages and software engineering, and those lessons about language and culture inform how we think about naming, communication, and API design.
